Airport Terminals Information

Dubai International Airport operates three massive passenger terminals. Note: Terminals 1 and 3 are connected by a transit area, but Terminal 2 is on the opposite side of the runway.

  • Terminal 1 (Concourse D): Serves over 60 international flag carriers (e.g., British Airways, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines). Connected to Concourse D via an automated people mover.
  • Terminal 2: Serves regional, charter, and low-cost flights. It is a major hub for flydubai (though flydubai also heavily uses T3).
  • Terminal 3 (Concourses A, B, C): The exclusive hub for Emirates, plus its partners Qantas, Air Canada, and United Airlines. It is one of the largest buildings in the world by floor space and features dedicated First and Business Class concourses.

Airport Facilities & Services

  • Wi-Fi: Free, unlimited “WOW-Fi” is available throughout the airport with incredible speeds.
  • Lounges:
    • Emirates Lounges (T3): Massive, multi-level First and Business Class lounges spanning entire concourses.
    • Independent Lounges: Plaza Premium, Marhaba Lounges, and Ahlan Lounges are available across T1 and T3 for economy passengers to purchase entry.
    • Sleep ‘n fly: Sleep pods and cabins available in T1 and T3 for transit passengers.
  • Showers: Free public showers are available in T3 (between Gates B13 and B19). Premium showers are available in all lounges.

  • Eligibility: UAE Residents, GCC Nationals, and Visa-on-Arrival tourists with biometric passports who have registered upon a previous entry.
  • Security: DXB uses advanced scanners, but wait times can still spike during the midnight “transit wave.” Have your boarding pass ready.

Alternative Dubai Airports

Dubai World Central (DWC) / Al Maktoum International:

While DXB is the main hub, DWC (located south near Jebel Ali) is Dubai’s airport of the future. Currently, it handles cargo, private jets, and a selection of budget carriers like Wizz Air and seasonal flydubai routes. Always check your ticket to ensure you arrive at the correct airport!

Transport & Connectivity

DXB is flawlessly integrated into the city’s public transport network.

  • Metro (Red Line): Trains run directly from stations inside Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. It takes roughly 25 minutes to reach the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall. (Note: You need a Nol Card to ride).
  • Taxi (RTA): Cream-colored Dubai Taxis are available 24/7 outside all terminals. Note: There is an automatic AED 25 starting flag fall surcharge for all airport pickups.
  • Ride-Hailing (Uber / Careem): Designated pick-up zones are located in the arrivals areas of all terminals. Careem is the local favorite and often has more availability.
  • Bus: RTA buses serve all terminals. You cannot pay cash; you must use a pre-loaded Nol Card.

Parking Information

DXB offers extensive parking, but rates vary significantly depending on proximity. (2026 Rates)

  • Terminal 1 & 3 Premium: Closest to the terminals. AED 40 for 2 hours, AED 125 for a full day.
  • Terminal 1 & 3 Economy: Slightly further walk. AED 25-30 for 2 hours, AED 85-100 for a full day.
  • Terminal 2: Cheaper options available, starting at AED 15 for 1 hour.

  • Premier Inn Dubai International Airport: Located just opposite Terminal 3 with a free shuttle bus (budget-friendly).
  • Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre: Located just minutes from T1, offering 18 restaurants and a resort feel right next to the runway.
  • Holiday Inn Express Dubai Airport: Located near Terminal 3, offering great value and a free shuttle.

Tips for Travelers

  • The “Midnight Wave”: The airport is actually busiest between 11:00 PM and 3:00 AM, as this is when global transit flights arrive and depart. Leave extra time if traveling late at night.
  • Terminal Transfer: If you need to transfer from T2 to T1/T3, you cannot walk. You must use the free airport shuttle bus (which takes 20-30 minutes), or a taxi.
  • Free Buggies: If you are in Terminal 3 (Concourse A), the distances are vast. Flag down a free airport buggy to get to your gate faster.
  • Download the Apps: Download the Careem app for taxis and the GDRFA app to check your Smart Gate eligibility.
